OWQG offers incredible opportunities to be inspired in your quilting, learn new techniques, and improve skills with a diverse range of speakers and classes featuring some of the region’s most respected quilters.

Approximately 7-8 times each year, we welcome a guest lecturer to our monthly meeting. These skilled quilters offer a trunk show (display and discussion of quilts) or lecture which reflects a particular theme or technique. They encourage us to try new things and be awed by the many ways of quilting represented in our guild and beyond.

The lecturers then lead a workshop the next day, Tuesday, and give us a chance to slow down, practice creativity, and meet new friends. Unless otherwise noted, the classes will be held at CHEER which is convenient, spacious, bright, and offers breakfast and lunch at a very reasonable cost:

Here are a few things to know about OWQG classes:

  • We have a list of basic supplies to bring plus will send the additional supplies requested by the instructor.

  • You may sign up at our monthly meetings or by emailing us at: owqg.classes@gmail.com.

  • You may pay for the classes at our monthly meetings (cash, check, or debit/credit card) or by sending a check to the QWQG treasurer, Mary Ann Genech—we’ll provide her address to people who sign up for the class.

  • We will send information about supplies that you will need to bring to the class.

  • Many instructors require that you purchase a kit of pre-cut fabrics and other supplies needed for the classes. You will pay the instructor for this on the day of the class.

  • Please arrive early to set-up so that all classes may begin on time.

  • We will have irons, ironing boards, cutting mats, and electrical outlets available.

  • Participants from other quilt guilds are welcome to attend; we do request an extra $5 fee to help offset the costs of the instructors.

Please note: Class locations will vary between in person and virtual (Zoom).  Please note the location when registering for a class.
